Affidavit Reveals Details of Cecil Homicide
Police say Richard Allen Dunkovich, bloody knife found lying on the bedroom floor with victim
The Cecil Township woman stabbed to death last week in her home was still alive when officers responded to the call, according to a criminal complaint filed by state police Thursday.
"Upon officer's arrival a female was heard screaming which was heard from outside the residence by Cecil (police) and Canonsburg police," the document, filed at District Judge Valerie Costanzo's office, stated. "The home was secure so forced entry was made. After entry into the home, officers found the victim deceased on the floor of an upstairs bedroom."
There, police also found a bloody knife lying on the floor along with the victim's husband, Richard Allen Dunkovich, 56, who was arraigned at his Allegheny General Hospital bed Thursday afternoon on a single count of criminal homicide.
That affidavit also confirms that Brenda Dunkovich called Washington County 911 to report her husband was "attacking her with a Taser and had a gun and had also discharged the gun."
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco pronounced the woman dead at the scene and ruled the death a homicide. The autopsy showed Brenda Dunkovich died from multiple stab wounds.
The affidavit indicates she suffered stab wounds to the torso, posterior and extremities. In addition to the stab wounds, the report revealed she also suffered numerous abrasions and contusions on her body -- and that her injuries were defensive in nature.
Richard Dunkovich was taken by ambulance to AGH the night of the homicide, where a hospital spokeswoman indicated he was admitted for stab wounds. Although he had been listed in serious condition Sunday and throughout the week, he was upgraded to fair on Wednesday.
Details about Richard Dunkovich's wounds were not immediately made public.
