Canonsburg Man Jailed for Corruption of Minor

Jason Mooney, 41, is in Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $50,000 bond Tuesday.

A Canonsburg man is in Washington County Jail after borough police charged him with a count of possessing material that depicts a sex act with a child.

Jason Mooney, 42, was also charged Monday with corruption of minors, online court records show.

Mooney was arraigned before district Judge David Mark at 11 a.m. Tuesday and was remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $50,000 bond.

He is set to appear for a preliminary hearing before Mark at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11.

The Observer-Reporter newspaper indicated on its website that the charges relate to Mooney having a 12-year-old girl send him a nude photograph.

Canonsburg police Chief R.T. Bell could not immediately be reached for comment on his cell phone Tuesday afternoon.

Perverts need to be eliminated from society. Make our place safe for children and give us piece of mind. I hate people who do that crap.

You're right. We wouldn't want to upset or hurt anyone's feelings. Let's show everyone that's it ok to do this. He just needs some counseling and he will be rehabilitated. There's no way he would do this again! Maybe you should send some milk and cookies to his jail cell. Or, maybe he just needed a hug?

FYI - he is already on Megans Law for acts with a minor prior to this incident.

Not in my book. If you don't want people to comment then remove the functionality or don't read the comments. This is not this guy's first time. He is a repeat offender. What happened to the freedom of speech? This is a public forum, and, as long as I keep it clean, I should be able to speak my mind.
