Family Dinner Time: Start Out with Buffalo Chicken Dip

Planning a Super Bowl party for the fam? Here's an easy recipe to get things started.

My friend and fabulous coworker Andrea Bosco (editor of Peters Patch) sent us this easy recipe to get your festive Super Bowl party started.

Don't worry: We're collecting more Super Bowl recipes as we speak and will feature more next week.

Do you have a favorite tailgate treat? Then please the recipe along to me at amanda.gillooly@patch.com.

In the meantime, here's Ms. Bosco's recipe (which looks even easy enough for this culinarily challenged woman to make):

Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Chicken Dip

Servings: 4 cups dip

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 20

Ingredients:

8 ounce package of cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup blue cheese or ranch salad dressing

1/2 cup Frank's Redhot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce or wing sauce

1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese or shredded mozzarella cheese

2 cans (12.5 oz. each) chicken breast in water, drained (Andrea, though, uses three or four fresh chicken breasts—then shred the meat once cooked.)

Directions:

Heat oven to 350°F. Place cream cheese into deep baking dish. Stir until smooth.

Mix in salad dressing, Frank's RedHot Sauce and cheese. Stir in chicken.

Bake 20 minutes or until mixture is heated through; stir. Garnish as desired. Serve with crackers or vegetables.

(Andrea lets the ingredients simmer on low heat in a crockpot, rather than baking it in a dish—party goers can then serve it hot onto their plates as they please.)
