Get Out! Here is our Top 10 Choices for This Weekend

From what you need to do (recycle your Christmas tree), to what you should do (get your blood pressure screened), to what you want to do: Have some fun. It's all right here.

Where/When: South Park, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday

Why Go?: The 4th Annual Christmas Tree Recycling will be held in the South Park wave pool parking lot. Residents can drop off trees daily. All lights, decorations, tinsel and stands must be removed from trees prior to drop-off. The trees will be mulched and used in Allegheny County parks.

Why Go?: is offering free blood pressure screenings at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center.

Where?/When?: South Park, 6 p.m. Friday

Why Go?: The PIHL Charity Hockey Games will be held at the South Park Ice Skating Rink. The rink will be closed through Friday to public skating. The 6 p.m. game will feature Westmont Hilltop vs. and the proceeds from the game will benefit the Hillman Cancer Center. Mt. Lebanon will play against Pittsburgh Central at 8 p.m. in a game benefiting the Paul Sciullo II Scholarship.

Pricing: $5 per person.

Where?/When?: , 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday

Why Go?: David’s Music House welcomes the band, CoolFish for a weekend concert. Stop in and enjoy some music on Friday night!

Pricing: $10 - $20 donation at door

Where?/When?: , 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Friday

Why Go?: End your work week at Jay's. Enjoy food and listen to the musical stylings of the band Day One!

Why Go?: Public skate is open to all ages.  Punchcards are available for 10 sessions at $90. Schedule is subject to change. Please call to verify.

Pricing: $10 (includes rental), Children 5 and younger are free (rental is $3)

Where?/When?:, 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday

Why Go?: Need something for the family to do during winter? There is no better place to turn than Trax Farms’ Indoor Flea Market. You are guaranteed to find something unique from the 83 vendors selling antiques, gifts, collectibles, clothing, apparel, hobbies, food and much more in our events room. Whether you're just browsing or ready to buy, there is something for everyone!  

Pricing: Free parking and admission, prices vary.

Where?/When?: , 10:45 a.m. on Sunday

Why Go?: Participants can purchase a Freestyle punchcard that will never expire! The punchcard is 20 half-hour sessions for $100.

Pricing: $10/admission and skate rental, Ages 5 and younger are free with $3 skate rental

9. Yarn Backpack Buddy  

Where/When: Michaels, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday

Why Go?: Make a fuzzy backpack friend. This is a free make-it take-it while supplies last. The event is for ages 4 and older.

Pricing: Free.

Where?/When?: Michaels, 3:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturday

Why Go?: Wrap yourself in creativity with a Multi-Strand Chair Scarf. This program is for ages 3 and older.
