Get Out: Summer Festival, Bag 'O Books and Beer Hike

Here are our picks for fun this weekend.

 

1. Bag O’ Books Sale

Where?/When?:Frank Sarris Public Library, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday

Why Go?: Have you stocked up for your summer reading? If not, the library can help with that. For just $5, you can buy a bag of gently used books from the library's sale area. You'll need to make more than one trip. New items are added to the shelves daily

2. St. Patrick Church Summer Festival

Where/When: St Patrick Church Roman Catholic Parish, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday to Friday

Why Go: The festival features homemade ethnic and picnic foods, games, mascots, bingo, kids korner, raffles, and live music.

3.  South Park Amphitheater Concert

Where?/When?: South Park Amphitheater, 7:30 p.m. Friday

Why Go?: Enjoy beautiful South Park with the family while listening to the blues entertainment by the Glen Pavone Tribute featuring the Nighthawks.

4. Flea-Market Preview Sale

Where?/When?: St. Thomas More School Gym, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday

Why Go?: The Flea Market Pre-sale will be held at the St. Thomas More School Gym. The sale will feature a spectacular selection of items at a bargain.

Ppricing: $5 entry fee from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and no entry fee from noon to 7 p.m.

5.  Spring Seasonal Beer Tasting Hike

Where?/When?:South Park, 12:30 p.m. on Sunday

Why Go?: Walk 3-4 miles of scenic trails through South Park while learning about the natural and social history of the area. Then, take a short drive to Barley’s & Hop’s Beer Cafe for a seasonal microbrew tasting with experts. Try hand-picked beers along with cheese, breads and other light snacks. Minimum age is 21. Pricing: $25 for Venture Outdoors members and $33 for non-members.
