Grandstand, Press Box 'Icing on the Cake'
The amenities at its municipal park will cost North Strabane Township $419K.
Greg Sulc gazed out onto North Strabane's newly completed turf field Tuesday night and said the grandstand and press box that will overlook it will be a perfect finishing touch.
"With a million-dollar synthetic field, this is the icing on the cake," the township's parks and recreation director said.
The board of supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved the purchase of one 16-row by 229-foot grandstand and one 10-foot by 18-foot prefabricated press box at a price not to exceed $419,400.
Township Manager Frank Siffrinn said the proceeds from the board's recent bond refinance—one that netted the township a refund of more than $600,000—will pay for the amenities.
Sulc said the press box will be centered on the 50-yard line and the grandstand will accommodate 2,100 people.
"This will give us the capability to host large tournaments—either soccer, lacrosse or football," he said.
Sulc said both the grandstand and press box would be completed by the time the township holds the grand opening for its multi-million park project on June 30.

The capability to host large tournaments...isn't that what the CMYSA wanted Klinger Park for??? How many tournament capable fields/parks does CM need!
