Canonsburg Gets Decorated for the Holidays
The Perry Como statue is topped with a Santa hat, and the music it plays is now of the holiday variety.
It might be days before Thanksgiving, but it’s already beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Canonsburg.
Christmas lights are up downtown, and the Perry Como statue outside the borough building is topped with a Santa hat. A huge holiday wreath adorns the building itself.
Those who visit the borough building will also notice that the statue is now playing holiday music, too.
“There’s more to come,” borough Manager Terry Hazlett said Monday.
The borough, he said, is getting ready for several holiday events happening within the next few weeks—including a Light the Night celebration.

Mr. Hazlett needs to be asked this one question: The borough decorates Pike street from Euclid Avenue all the way to Jefferson Avenue.... But why may I ask is West Pike street from Jefferson Ave to say the post office NEVER decorated???? Aren't we part of Canonsburg???? That's just not fair.

Will the nativity display be up this year? I recall last year there was some controversy surrounding the display and it had to be moved to private property.

Myself and a group of citizens along with the mayors office had the nativity moved back to borough property. I would surely hope the borough doesn't move it this year.

I believe the borough implemented a free permit process for groups to display items on borough property (AJ - correct me if I am wrong, I just can't find the link at the moment). But I will ask Mr. Hazlett when I next speak with him to confirm! If I may be of further assistance, just give me a ring at 724-510-5659.
