Local Group Helps Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful

A cleanup event was held in nearby Chartiers Township on Thursday. Meanwhile, Canonsburg Main Street Program's Redd-Up Day planned for Saturday has been postponed because of a rainy forecast.

Fourteen volunteers and three members of the Chartiers Township road crew removed almost 2 tons of trash and 336 tires during a cleanup effort Thursday on Valley Road.

The event, sponsored by Keep Washington County Beautiful, was held in conjuntion with Keep America Beautiful, Chartiers Township and the Chartiers Creek Watershed Association.

Donations for the event, which also helped celebrate Earth Day, were also received from Giant Eagle, Jimmy Z's Pizza and Olive Oil Pizza & More in Canonsburg. Funding was also secured through Clean and Green funds from Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

Another cleanup effort—this was sponsored by —had been planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday but has been postponed because of the weather forcast (which calls for rain and possible flash flooding).
