Neuman Calls for Bipartisan Effort to Implement Recommendations from Task Force on Child Protection
'There are some bills with wide support from both sides and pushing these bills through needs to be a priority in early 2013,' state Rep. Brandon Neuman, D-North Strabane, said.
“Hopefully this report serves as a guide to both caucuses to enact legislation involving matters of child protection,” Neuman, D-North Strabane, said. “There are some bills with wide support from both sides and pushing these bills through needs to be a priority in early 2013.”
Neuman said that being a member of a Washington County Task Force on Child Protection has helped him fully understand the need to protect children and give the youth in the area an opportunity to succeed.
“I will be a strong advocate for educating and protecting our youth and I plan on working with both sides of the aisle to make Pennsylvania a place where kids have an opportunity to succeed,” he added.
Neuman said he hopes the General Assembly strongly considers the recommendations put forth by the task force "and that partisan agendas be put aside."
According to the Huffington Post, the recommendations made by the task force—which was formed in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky criminal case—includes rewriting the Child Protective Services Law and change how child abuse cases are handled, among other things.
