The PA Trolley Museum's Got 'Desire'

The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre recently did a photo shoot for its new production, 'A Streetcar Named Desire' at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum.

A photo shoot for the cast of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's "Streetcar Named Desire" took place this week at the Pennsylvania Trolley Musueum.

The museum, which is just a short trip from to Washington, houses the actual streetcar (named Desire, incidentally).

The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre has re-imagined "Streetcar Named Desire," "presenting a portrayal of clashing cultures" in John Neumeier’s ballet of Tennessee William’s stage play March 9-11 at the Benedum Center.

This is the first time Neumeier’s creation will be performed by an American company and only the second time it’s been performed in the United States.

The story brings its audience inside the tormented mind of Blanch Du Bois, an aging southern belle. Through glimpses of both the past and present the audience will witness Du Bois’ unraveling grasp on reality.

The set, costuming and sound design provide a rich backdrop to the powerful and evocative choreography.

This performance is recommended for mature audiences only.
