It's hard to believe that the new school year is set to begin.
It seems that the weeks since Memorial Day have flown by, and with Labor Day right around the corner, that means that the end (of summer) is near!
It was noted last week that regular hours at Canonsburg's Town Park Pool are waning, but that splashy form of recreation isn't the only thing to be wrapping up....
Summertime activities are also coming to an end at the Frank Sarris Public Library.
Tuesday night was the last evening that Tail Waggin' Tutors visited the children's department and later this week, Summer Reading Club participants will be going on a field trip to mark the end of their program.
It should be mentioned that not everything has come to an end—there are still two more Saturday meetings of the Lil' Fireflies Club!
If you (and your preschooler) have not yet attended one of these events, here's a bit about what you've been missing:
This summer, the Frank Sarris Public Library has hosted a summer reading club for young children (up to 5 years old).
We've been meeting at 11 a.m. on select Saturdays for songs, books and crafts as we learn about the world at night.
On Saturday, we'll look up at the night sky as we explore the moon and the stars—we'll even learn a little Spanish!
We will wrap up our adventures on Aug. 18 with a look at the creatures of the night and we'll work to create a friendly bat. Register either day (or both of them!) at the Children's Department or by phone at 724-745-1308.
Of course, fall will bring a selection of activities to your friendly, neighborhood library—be sure to check the calendar on our website for updates!
