DESCRIPTION: A Day of Fun and Learning Expected at Garden in the Parks Fi
 eld Day\nThe annual Garden in the Parks Field Day sponsored by the Penn 
 State Master Gardeners of Allegheny County is a day of education and fun
  for all ages.&nbsp\; The free event will be held at the North and South
  Park Demonstration Gardens on Aug. 18\, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.\nThe North Par
 k Demonstration Garden is located at the intersection of Wildwood Road a
 nd Babcock Boulevard.&nbsp\; The South Park garden is at the intersectio
 n of Corrigan Drive and McConkey Road.\nThe day features guided tours of
  the annual flower trials\, pollinator gardens and herb gardens\, childr
 en&rsquo\;s activities\, and information on native pollinators\, herbs\,
  compostingand rain barrels.&nbsp\;\nStations will be set up where visit
 ors can sample different varieties of garlic\, basil\, tomatos\,&nbsp\;a
 nd vinegars and vote on their favorites.&nbsp\; Visitors will have a cha
 nce to talk with local beekeepers and learn about raising bees and harve
 sting honey.&nbsp\;\nAlso\, master gardeners will be on hand to answer q
 uestions\, diagnose problems\, and identify plants.\nThose interested in
  canning\, drying or freezing their garden&rsquo\;s bounty can speak wit
 h a Penn StateMaster Food Preserver who will answer any questions about 
 the process of preserving fresh fruits and vegetables.&nbsp\;\nFree test
 ing of the pressure cooker dial gauges also will be offered.\nMaster gar
 deners will be selling their own fresh produce\, and an assortment of pe
 rennials\, fresh-cut flowers\, and gardening items at the garden market.
