'Monsters Under the Bed' Now Playing at Looking Glass Theatre

With delicacy and wit, the play explores themes of friendship, bullying, and facing up to your fears.

Looking Glass Theatre, Little Lake Theatre Company's theater for young audiences, is presenting an area premiere play for the whole family.

"The Monster Under the Bed" by Kevin Dyer was originally commissioned and produced by the Polka Theatre, Wimbledon, London in 2008 and presented as a staged reading in April 2008 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as part of New Visions/New Voices.

Not familiar? Here's a synopsis:

Ben is having a grouchy morning.

So is his mother.

In a rush and barely awake, she accidentally hands Luke (the monster under ben's bed) the lunchbox and off they go—she to work, Luke Monster to school in Ben's place.

With delicacy and wit, the play explores themes of friendship, bullying, and facing up to your fears.

"The Monster Under the Bed" is directed by Little Lake Theatre's Artistic Director, Sunny Disney Fitchett, and features Alyssa Cuddy, brother and sister James Curry and Shannon Curry of Peters Township, Mason Dowd, of Peters, John Herrmann, Renee Ruzzi-Kern, Nicholas Staso and Helga Terre, of Peters.

An excellent end-of-summer treat for the whole family, the show runs through Aug. 24 with showtimes at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 1:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
