Business Spotlight: The Meadows Kicks Off the 'Giving Season'

A food drive, toy drive, Wounded Warrior Swipe and Win program and more is happening in November.

The Meadows Racetrack & Casino in North Strabane, along with former Steelers Rocky Bleier and Randy Grossman, will kick off the holiday season in November with a number of charitable giving events.

With its annual Toys for Tots campaign, Wounded Warrior Swipe and Win, Purple Heart Parking and Canned Food Drive and 2,000 Turkeys campaigns in cooperation with the Greater Washington County Food Bank, The Meadows "continues its tradition of giving and providing a meaningful holiday season for those less fortunate and our military heroes throughout the region," officials said.

“The Meadows family and its customers have a long track record of giving back to those central to our community,” said Sean Sullivan, vice president and general manager of The Meadows. “We are committed to supporting our military veterans who sacrifice for our freedom, along with providing for the less fortunate children and families in our region, especially during the holidays.”

During the entire month of November, former Steelers Randy Grossman, along with The Marine Corps Reserve of Washington County, will be collecting for its annual Toys for Tots campaign.

New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off in designated boxes located throughout The Meadows, today through Nov. 30—and will be distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the local community.

The Wounded Warrior Swipe and Win program is free for guests to participate.  The Meadows will donate $1 for every guest who swipes his Players Club card at a kiosk on Nov. 11 and 12—up to $5,000.

Additionally, 10 guests who participate in the Wounded Warrior Swipe and Win program will have a chance to win $1,000 cash.

On Nov. 11, Veterans Day, former Bleier will unveil the Purple Heart Parking campaign—The Meadows is designating two premier parking spaces reserved for any vehicle that has a Purple Heart License Plate.

The Meadows will also team up again with the Greater Washington County Food Bank by sponsoring a three-day canned food drive at The Meadows (Nov. 13, 14 & 15), where The Meadows will add $1 to the prize pool for every pound of food donated during the collection drive—up to $5,000.

One donating individual will win $5,000 cash and other prizes will be doled out Nov. 19.  The Meadows will also donate to the annual 2,000 Turkeys campaign as part of its ongoing partnership with the food bank.
