Two Horses Die At The Meadows Monday

A company spokesman confirmed no drivers were injured.

Two horses died during races at The Meadows on Monday, a company spokesman confirmed.

The first death came in race 14. The horse was named Lislea Isabella, an 8-year-old mare driven by Brady Brown, trained by Steve Schoeffel, and owned by Virginia Schoeffel and Kathy Schoeffel.

According to Brady, she appeared to "choke down," which is harness lingo for a type of inability to breathe, the spokesman explained.

Then during race 15, a second horse died. The horse was named Little Bit Tricky, a 7-year-old mare driven by Brett Miller, trained by Carl Cocciolone and owned by Michael Puff.

The spokesman said it is not yet known what caused her death.

No drivers were injured, and no other horses were involved.

No further information was immediately available.
