“Jersey Boys” opened last week at the Benedum Center to packed houses and fans young and old.
Chronicling the careers of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, this show is a must see for any music lover. I don’t care how old you are, I guarantee you’ve heard at least 75 percent of the songs in “Jersey Boys”—and that’s only one of the many reasons to see the show!
Whether your mom fell in love with the Four Seasons during the height of their career or your children fell in love with the numerous renditions of their songs over the years, “Jersey Boys” is truly a night of education on a critical part of music history and pure entertainment. Featuring songs from many parts of their careers like “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Sherry,” and “Walk Like a Man,” fans get a glimpse into some of the critical moments in their career that shaped those songs.
Starring Brad Weinstock as Frankie Valli in one monster of a role, “Jersey Boys” takes us on the journey of how four blue-collar boys climbed to the top of the charts. In addition to Weinstock, the quartet is rounded out with Brandon Adrus as Nick Massi, Colby Foytik as Tommy DeVito and Jason Kappus as Bob Guadio. Together, this group with the rest of the cast, creates magic on stage.
From the first note to the last, “Jersey Boys” will have you tapping your toes, clapping your hands and for many—singing right along with the music. But, at a show like this, no one minds!
It might be billed as a musical, but it’s truly just like being at a rock 'n roll show.
The entire performance is packed with music spanning the highlights of their career making it virtually impossible for true fans to just sit silently and watch. It all ends with a rousing finale complete with fans on their feet grooving to the music.
This traveling cast was so phenomenal, it truly felt like we were time-traveling back to the day with authentic language and pitch perfect voices. This group truly captured the icons the Four Seasons became and did the show a great justice. You’ll feel like you’re in the front row of one of their concerts some 40 plus years ago.
If you’ve been thinking about getting tickets to this show–stop wasting your time and get those seats today! It’s well worth every penny of your hard-earned money and you certainly won’t regret it.
