Canon-Mac Sisters Share Story Of Rare Condition

The sisters live with a rare skin condition that causes painful blistering.

A family from North Strabane shared their story with the Washington Observer-Reporter last week, talking about the challenges faced by two daughters as they deal with a rare skin condition.

The Observer-Reporter profiled the LaBarbera sisters, 15-year-old Haylee and 11-year-old Abbie, both of whom have Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa. The skin condition causes painful blistering, often at the slightest touch.

Haylee is a sophomore at Canon-McMillan High School, and Abbie is in sixth grade at North Strabane Intermediate School.

Read about how the sisters deal with the challenges of their condition and what they have been able to overcome in the Observer-Reporter.
