Obituary: Anita V. Alterio, 76, of Canonsburg

Anita V. Alterio, 76 of Canonsburg died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 1, 1936 in Hendersonville, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Anna Marie Refosco Teatino.

Mrs. Alterio was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Parish in Canonsburg. During her youth she attended Cecil High School. Baking and traveling with family brought her great joy and she loved spending time around the holidays with her family and friends. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates baseball fan.

Viewing mass and praying the rosary daily in her home brought her great peace. She always loved people and enjoyed her many friendships throughout her life.

Sarris Candies in Canonsburg employed her as a candy maker for nine years until her retirement.

On Sept. 1, 1958 in Saint Patrick Church in Canonsburg, she married her loving husband of 54 years Ralph A. Alterio, who survives. Surviving are two daughters Marianne (Darryl) Wargo of Canonsburg and Monica (Robert) Durbin of Canonsburg.
