Obituary: Lewis R. 'Pappy' Adams

Aug. 29, 1922 - Dec. 29, 2012

Lewis R. "Pappy" Adams, 90, of Canonsburg, died in his home, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 with his family at his side.

He was born Aug. 29, 1922 in Washington, a son of George Nichols and Irene Miller Adams.

Lewis graduated from Trinity High School before serving for 20 years with the United States Army . He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and a Master Sergeant. He then worked for McGraw Edison as a supervisor.

He was Methodist by faith. Lewis was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was manager for the Little Gunners Football and an honorary Washington County deputy sheriff.

Surviving are his wife, Loretta Tyler Adams, two daughters, Rochelle Tyler of Carnegie, and Sheilah Adams of Canonsburg, two grandchildren, Jordan Allen and Breah Lee, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 E. College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. George Hickey officiating.
