Obituary: Lucy Guarino, of North Strabane—Former Co-Owner of Village Italian Store in the South Hills

Lucy Guarino, 85, of North Strabane Township died Saturday June 22, 2013 in Canonsburg General Hopsital.

She was born January 15, 1928 in Pittsburgh the daughter of Nicola and Maria Michele (Micheline) Buonopane Guarino. Mrs. Guarino was a member of St. Benedict the Abbot Roman Catholic Church in McMurray.

She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing, but most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Guarino along with her husband owned and operated Village Italian Store in Caste Village in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.

On May 25, 1948 she married Samuel S. Guarino who preceded her in death. Surviving is a son Samuel A. (Nancy) Guarino of North Strabane Township; four grandchildren Samuel N. (Amy) Guarino, Talli Guarino (Eric), Toni A. (Rich) Yates and Nick Guarino (Jackie) two great grandsons Brayden Guarino and Luca Yates, a sister Congetta (James) Mongelluzzo of Pittsburgh and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Michael J. Guarino, two sisters Melina LaBounty and Antoinette Peluso and three brothers Pat, Joe and Nick Redondo.

Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College St., Canonsburg, PA 15317. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday June 26, 2013 in St. Benedict the Abbot Roman Catholic Church in McMurray, PA. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.
