Obituary: Robert A. Saut, Longtime Cecil Resident

Aug. 6, 1935- Dec. 17, 2012

Bob was a husband to Mary Jean Cherry Saut, and father to five children, Bob Jr., Rene, Rich, Randy and Rhonda.

He was an electrician by trade and helped neighbors, family and friends when they needed a hand. Many called on him when their furnaces and hot water heaters broke down. He was called when cars broke down for advice and help fixing it or providing a ride. He never accepted money for these jobs, he knew those families were tight on funds, just like ours.

Instead, he would receive nut rolls at Christmas time, a glass of wine, or just a sincere thank you.

Over the years he had rental properties and would always rent to the person or family that he felt needed a hand. Someone had given a hand to Bob and Mary Jean when they were first married and he felt it important to help someone else, especially those who were young and in love.

His children brought him joys, each in their own ways. Bob Jr. went into the Air Force and followed his love of planes—one shared with his father. Bob Sr. was on the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the Enterprise, which he fondly spoke of.

Rene and Terry were always nearby and provided the daily help, running to the store for milk, picking up the mail, etc. Often overlooked as trivial, but very much appreciated and needed. They provided a steady reliable contact for Bob and Mary Jean.

Rich did one of the things that Bob wanted to do, go to college. Bob was very proud of Rich's academics and his ability to repair cars. Rich gave Bob and Mary Jean their first grandchild, Jacob, later followed by his brother, Ethan.

Randy followed in Bob's footsteps and entered the Navy. Randy brought home a wonderful daughter-in-law, Deanna, and blessed them with a large family of grandchildren—Brandy, Cynthia, Jessica, Daniel, Sarah, Marriles and Shelby.

Rhonda and son in-law David, while living in North Carolina, would provide them a reason to travel. Bob and Rhonda would often talk at great length on the phone. They added to the list of grandchildren with two sweet girls, Serena and Eden Tregay.

Bob grew up and spent his life in the Cecil area. He loved the rural area, nature, trees and the farms. He graduated from Cecil High School. He joined the Navy and did several Mediterranean cruises, spent a few weeks circling Cuba, and other adventures he often spoke of, all aboard the Enterprise.

He was employed at McGraw Edison in Canonsburg, Union Electric Steel in Carnegie and was co-owner of Amour de Fleurs Flower Shop.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Ida Saut (Haney), sister Joan Saut, nephew, Steven Cherry,  and the love of his life for over 50 years, Mary Jean Cherry Saut.

Bob is survived by his children, Robert Saut Jr, Rene Saut (Terry Miller), Richard Saut, Randy (Deanna) Saut, Rhonda (David) Tregay. Bob leaves a brother, Ron Saut and is also survived by nieces Michele Colussy, Pam Ray, LeeAnn Roach, Kathy Eckels and nephew Tim Cherry.

Bob leaves his grandchildren listed above as well as 15 great-grand children and many friends.

Friends will be received 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19 at the Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road (Rt 50) Cecil, PA. where a family sharing service will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m.
