Blotter: More Meds Taken From Personal Care Home

Canonsburg police are investigating what an employee told officers was an "ongoing problem."

were summoned to the Rest Haven Personal Care Home this week after an employee there told officers that someone who works there has been stealing medication from patients.

The employee "stated that this has been an ongoing problem," the police report indicated.

The employee said that six to eight hydrocodone tablets were missing Tuesday—telling officers that the person who took the painkillers replaced them with 500mg Tylenol pills.

On Monday she said she noticed that 60 mg of morphine was also missing.

Canonsburg police are investigating, and the state Department of Welfare was notified—which is procedure in these types of cases, the police report stated.

Criminal Mischief Investigated

Canonsburg police are investigating a criminal mischief incident at the Beinhauer and Bogan Funeral Home at 164 W. Pike St., where a large granite display for the business had been knocked over and broken.

An employee noticed the damage on Wednesday morning. No damage estimate was available.

Charm Stolen

April Olshock, of 249 Vine St., told police Tuesday that a charm from one of her necklaces had been stolen from her home. The charm was described as having three emerald stones set vertically in a row. It is valued at $700. 

Tip Jar Taken

An employee at the Canonsburg Starbucks told borough police that someone had stolen the tip jar that sat outside the drive-through window Tuesday night.

It was unknown who took it, or how much was in the jar.
