DUI, careless driving charges pending
Charges are pending against a McMurray man police said flipped off a Canonsburg police officer before being stopped for careless driving Sunday night.

Canonsburg police said an officer was stopped behind a can waiting for a traffic light to turn at Greenside and East Pike Street.

When the light turned green, police said the driver, later identified as Geoffrey Staley, didn't move.

After about five seconds, the officer honked his horn at Staley, who reportedly put his vehicle in reverse and then stuck his middle finger out the window at the officers.

He then made a right turn on Pike—where police said he drove "erratically," weaving in and out of his lane of traffic.

That prompted the officer to switch on his emergency lights.

But police said Staley, didn't immediately stop.

Instead, police said he continued swerving, traveled in the opposite lane of traffic for about 50 yards and then hit a curb before coming to a stop near the Subway restaurant on East Pike Street.

Police said Staley admitted to drinking two Long Island ice teas and taking medication that was prescribed for him.

Charges of DUI, reckless driving, careless driving and driving in the right lane are pending the results of a blood draw taken at Canonsburg General Hospital.

Police said Kline had small cuts on her legs, but that she refused medical assistance.

Police placed Kline under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence when officers said she seemed confused and reportedly had difficulty answering medical questions.

Breath tests were administered, and showed that Kline's alcohol level was .199 percent and .202 percent, according to police.
