Blotter: Woman Punched in Face, Business Broken Into, and Retail Theft Reported

Here are the latest Canonsburg police reports.

Canonsburg police were called to the Shop N Save parking lot, where 10 people were reportedly fighting Saturday afternoon.

Marsina Joy Matthews, of Duquesne Avenue, will be cited for allegedly punching Wanda McElhaney in the face following an altercation, according to police.

Charges will proceed by summons, police said.

Tools Stolen

Homes Thomas told Canonsburg police last week that someone had stolen a Stihl chainsaw and two halogen lights from his warehouse sometime on Jan. 28. He said the stolen items were valued at $500.

Water Main Break Reported

Canonsburg police were called to a water main break on Bluff Street Monday evening. Officers called the water company, who responded to fix the problem.

Business Broken Into

James Gregorakis, of 314 Spruce St., told Canonsburg police that someone had pried the door open to the back storage area of the Snowy White Laundromat three times and stole plastic bags and a sic-foot aluminum ladder.

Gregorakis asked police for extra patrols in the area.

Alleged Shoplifter Sought

Canonsburg police responded to the Dollar General store located at 145 Adams Ave. for a report of retail theft. The store’s assistant manager told police that a witness told her that a woman exited the store with an armful of food and candy—information that was confirmed through store surveillance. The woman is described as being in her mid to late 30s, and was wearing grey sweatpants, a black shirt, black shoes and had long brownish red hair that was pulled into a ponytail.

Police told the assistant manager to call the department is the woman shops at the store again.
