Canonsburg Man Accused of Abandoned Son at Wal-Mart Will Stand Trial

A Canonsburg man accused of abandoning his 8-year-old son at the Wal-Mart in South Strabane last month will stand trial for endangering the welfare of children and disorderly conduct.

Nathaniel Engott, 33, waived his right to a preliminary hearing before district Judge Jay Weller on Tuesday morning, online court records show.

Criminal charges were filed by South Strabane police on June 28, when a warrant for Engott's arrest was issued.

He was arraigned on July 1 and remanded to the Washington County Jail after being unable to post a $10,000 bond.

The Washington County Jail website indicates that Engott was still an inmate there as of Tuesday afternoon.
