Cecil Crash Victim Identified

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco identified the McDonald man and ruled the death an accident.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco has identified the victim of a two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday afternoon in Cecil Township as Dennis W. Cook of McDonald.

Warco said Cook, 64, of Stewart Road, died from blunt force trauma. He has ruled the death an accident.

Warco said in a release that Cook was the passenger in a vehicle that was traveling southbound on state Route 980 just after 2 p.m. Saturday.

"The operator came through a left bend in the roadway and lost control due to slippery conditions, striking an approaching vehicle in the northbound lane," Warco stated in the release. "Three other persons in the victim’s vehicle, along with the operator of the second vehicle, were transported to area hospitals."
