Cecil Police Charge Man, Underage Woman, With DUI

Cecil Township police this week arrested a man and underage woman for driving under the influence after two separate incidents.

The first incident happened at 11:56 p.m. Tuesday on Millers Run Road.

Police said officers noted that a driver traveling east on the road was braking often, slowing down and then speeding back up.

Officers initiated a traffic stop near Cowden Road after observing the car swerving into the oncoming lane of traffic.

When police approached the driver, identified as Cash J. Cortazzo, 24, of Pittsburgh, they noted the smell of alcohol emanating from him and said his speech was slurred.

When Cortazzo exited to car, police said he fell down.

Field sobriety tests showed impairment, and police said offices took the man into custody for suspected DUI.

Cortazzo was transported to the Cecil Township Police Department, where a breath test showed he had a blood-alcohol content of .163 percent—more than twice the legal limit.

He will charged with two counts of DUI—one for being incapable of safe driving and the other for having the highest rate of alcohol.

The second arrest was made early Wednesday morning on Millers Run Road

Police said officers observed a Jeep traveling slower than the posted speed, riding the center line and crossing into the opposing lane of traffic on bends just after 2 a.m.

When police approached the driver, who was identified as Rayna M. Watts, 20, of Washington, officers said they smelled the odor of alcohol and noted that her eyes were bloodshot.

Asked to exit the vehicle, police said Watts was unsteady on her feet.

Field sobriety tests showed impairment, and police arrested her for suspicion of DUI.

Watts was transported to the Cecil Township Police Department, where a breath test showed she had a blood-alcohol content of .182 percent.

She is being charged with two counts of DUI—one for being underage and one for having a high rate of alcohol.
