Canonsburg police were summoned to the Rite Aid at 25 E. Pike St. for a report of shoplifting Saturday evening.
An employee said she observed a man remove Trojan Magnum-style condoms—valued at $13.99—from the packaging and place the box back on the shelf.
The suspect is described as a tall, white male with blue eyes who wore a red jacket and a dark ball cap. He was carrying a black backpack.
DUI Arrest Made
charged a borough man with driving under the influence following an incident early Saturday morning.
Police were monitoring traffic at East Pike Street and Greenside Avenue when they heard a loud noise and observed a car drive over the curb near Clearview Credit Union and then drive away.
Police conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on Euclid Avenue, and noted that driver Christopher Winneberger, of 104 Valley View Terrace, smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech.
According to a police report, Winneberger failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion for DUI. A bag of suspected marijuana was in his pocket at the time, according to a police report.
Winneberger was then transported to the , where two breath tests were given. The results of both tests showed the man had a .140 percent blood-alcohol content, nearly twice the legal level to drive a car.
DUI Arrest Made
Canonsburg police stopped John Charles Ellis Sunday night and charged him with drunken driving after officers said they saw him turn into oncoming traffic on South Main Street
According to a Canonsburg police report, Ellis failed field sobriety tests, and a breath test showed his blood-alcohol level to be .135 percent, nearly twice the legal level to drive a car.
He will be charged with DUI, police said.
