District Attorney Eugene A. Vittone announced Wednesday that the Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force executed arrests on those suspected of dealing drugs and other controlled substances.
Members of the Drug Task Force were aided by members of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Washington County Adult Probation Office and the City of Washington Police Department.
A total of 52 arrest warrants were signed for suspected drug dealers in the county. These defendants represent many different communities throughout the county with a significant concentration in the City of Washington.
Vittone stated that, “This arrest sweep represents a major milestone in the Drug Task Force’s year-long effort to investigate and combat the trafficking of drugs in the county. I am particularly happy to see the combined efforts of officers from many different jurisdictions working within the task force, the Washington County Sheriffs Office, Washington County Adult Probation and the Pennsylvania State Police, working together with the goal of arresting drug dealers in our communities.”
As of 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, law enforcement officials had arrested 22 individuals.
The preliminary hearings in this matter scheduled before District Judge Robert Redlinger are tentatively scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 in Washington.
