DUI Pending Against Man Involved in Cecil Crash

There were no injuries in the crash Monday.

Cecil Township police said driving under the influence charges are pending against a driver involved in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday night on state Route 980 and Vista Drive.

Leah Grossman told officers that she was driving north on state Route 980 when a vehicle in the oncoming lane of traffic crossed the center line, striking her SUV.

Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the roadway, police said.

Neither Grossman nor the other driver, Ricky D. Litton, of Claysville, were injured according to police.

However, when officers approached Litton, they noted that he had slurred speech and that he was having difficulty standing. Additionally, Coors Light cans were found both in his vehicle and strewn along the road.

When officers asked if he had consumed alcohol, Litton reportedly nodded in the affirmative.

A check revealed that Litton was driving with a DUI-related suspension and no insurance.

When officers went to pat Litton down and cuff him so he could be transported to the Canonsburg General Hospital for a blood draw, he became verbally combative and broke free of the officer’s grip, police said

That’s when the officer pulled a Taser on Litton, ordering him to the ground. He immediately complied.

Police said Litton is being cited for driving with a suspended license and for driving without insurance.

A charge of driving under the influence is pending the results of the blood test, police said.
