Former Treasurer Accused Of Stealing $16K From PTA Will Stand Trial

The former treasurer for the South Central Elementary School parent-teacher association accused of stealing $16,000 from the organization will stand trial.

Brian Simon, 35, of 1211 Meadowbrook Drive, this week waived to court charges of theft by unlawful taking and theft by failing to make the required deposits, according to district Judge David Mark's office.

Canonsburg police filed the charges in May after PTA officials became aware of discrepancies in its bank account.

Simon admitted to taking the money and resigned from his position - saying he meant no harm, the criminal complaint indicated.

Simon was reportedly waiting for a check to come in so he could pay back the money.

Court records indicate that a third party reimbursed the PTA.
