UPDATED: Cleanup Under Way After Widespread Pittsburgh Flooding

Cleanup continues after two rounds of severe storms pounded the Pittsburgh area on Wednesday.

Patch received no reports of injuries, but a number of residents are cleaning out flooded basements and cutting down fallen trees.

The next chance of rain is Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service located in Moon Township.

The South Hills received the worst of the flooding. Twelve municipalities declared a disaster emergency: Castle Shannon Borough, Elizabeth Borough, Findlay Township, Jefferson Hills Borough, Lincoln Borough, North Fayette Township, Oakdale Borough, Scott Township, South Fayette Township, Upper St. Clair Township, West Elizabeth Borough and Whitehall Borough.  The Allegheny County Emergency Management Agency will work with the affected municipalities to conduct a preliminary damage assessment.

The Swift Water Team conducted seven rescues in Allegheny County with the help of area fire departments. Two dogs were rescued with their owners in Bridgeville.

The flooding also brought some Port Authority bus routes and T rides to a halt. No problems are expected for Thursday commutes. Click here for current Port Authority updates on Twitter.

PennDOT reports the following road closures in Allegheny County at 8 p.m. Wednesday:

• • Route 2046 (Baldwin Road/Streets Run Road) is closed between Brentwood Road in Baldwin Borough and Route 2045 (Mifflin Road) in the City of Pittsburgh;
  • Route 4022 (Mt. Nebo Road) is closed between Route 4057 (Roosevelt Road) and Cheryl Drive in Ohio Township;
  • Route 1010 (Harts Run Road) is closed between Clearview Road and Middle Road in Hampton Township;
  • Route 3038 (Connor Road/Gilkeson Road) is closed between Route 19 (Washington Road) in Mt. Lebanon Township and Route 88 (Library Road) in Bethel Park Borough
