Nearby: Washington County Man Dies in One-Vehicle Crash

The manner and death of the Burgettstown man was not immediately known.

A Burgettstown man died after the Jeep he was driving struck a tree in Hanover Township Saturday morning.

The cause and manner of death for Frederick Speer III, 54, of Ridge Road, reportedly struck a tree while driving on Purdy Road. The Jeep he was driving then rolled down an embankment and into a creek, Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said in a statement.

The accident scene was discovered around 9 a.m. Saturday by a passing delivery driver.

The incident is under investigation by state police in Washington.
