A McMurray man was flown to a West Virginia hospital for injuries suffered Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash that killed another driver.
A spokeswoman from Ruby Memorial Hospital in West Virginia confirmed that Donald Watson, 54, of McMurray, was in fair condition as of Monday afternoon.
WAJR-AM is reporting on the Metro News website that Donald Watson, 54, of McMurray, was ejected from his vehicle during the crash, which happened on Interstate 79 near Morgantown.
“Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department says Henry Burnett, 67, (of Maryland), was killed when his 1988 Mercedes was hit near the I-79 South rest stop Sunday evening,” the station reported on its website. “Sheriff Al Kisner says Donald Watson … was driving north on I-79 when he lost control of his 1995 Chevy Tracker, crossed the median and struck Burnett’s Mercedes. The car ended up 200 feet away from the overturned Tracker.”
The woman who answered the phone at the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department on Monday said no additional details were immediately available.
The incident is under investigation, and the station reported that the sheriff’s department indicated that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
