Muse Man Charged After Alleged Road Rage Incident Awaiting Preliminary Hearing

A Muse man accused of taking swings at a fellow driver and spitting on two people following what Cecil Township described as a road rage incident is awaiting his preliminary hearing.

Cecil police have charged John Phillip Gilmore, 38, of Maple Street, last week with two counts each of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. One charge each of making terroristic threats and following too closely were also filed following the June 23 incident.

Police said officers were dispatched to Walnut Street in Muse and spoke with Timothy Glunt, who said a black truck had been following him closely as he drove about 1.5 miles on Muse-Bishop Road around 9 p.m. that night.

Glunt told police that he pulled over into a nearby church parking lot to allow the truck to pass him, but the driver instead parked his vehicle behind his.

That's when he said that driver, later identified as Gilmore, exited his truck and began kicking the passenger-side of his car.

He also told police that Gilmore spit on him and took several swings at him through the open window before he finally was able to pull away.

But the confrontation didn't end there, he told police.

Glunt said Gilmore got back into his truck and followed him to Walnut Street, where he again began kicking his vehicle. He said the man spit on him a second time.

Police said Gilmore also spit on a woman in the area—Tiffany Lilly—and reportedly told her that he had a .45 with "a bullet for her."

A preliminary hearing date has not yet been set, online court records show.
