News Nearby: Motorcyclist Dies in Crash

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said the man was not wearing a helmet.

An Avella man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving left the roadway and hit a utility pole in Cross Creek late Wednesday night.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said Randy Scott Loughry, 48, of Peterson St., died from multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:20 a.m. Thursday.

“The victim was the operator and sole occupant of a Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling southbound on Cross Creek Road,” Warco said in a release. “The victim’s vehicle left the roadway at Paris Road and struck a utility pole. The victim was not wearing a helmet.”

He ruled the death an accident.

The incident is under investigation by state police in Washington.
