North Strabane Standoff Ends Peacefully at Comfort Inn Hotel

An Oklahoma man was taken into custody and admitted into Washington Hospital following a SWAT situation early Monday at a North Strabane hotel.

KDKA reports that the situation ended peacefully when 31-year-old Raymond Chui of Tulsa voluntarily came out of his room at the Comfort Inn on Meadowlands Boulevard and surrendered to police.

Authorities were called at 5 a.m. after receiving a report of a man who had heavily damaged his hotel room and claimed someone wanted to kill him.

Police arrived to find Chui refusing to come out and barricaded inside the room, where a lamp was found outside a busted glass window.

Additional police were called along with the Washington County SWAT team, and a section of the hotel was sealed off.

Chui, unarmed, came out of the room about an hour later, according to reports.

Police told KDKA that Chui is a land acquisition agent for the Marcellus Shale industry and was upset over a break up. He indicated to police he'd "ingested more than a prescribed dosage of a prescribed medication that he was currently taking," police said.

Police plan to file charges against Chui.
