When Brad Jox called Canonsburg police late Thursday, he said he originally thought there was garbage lying in the driveway of his Arlington Drive home.
But it was a woman he told police was intoxicated.
Jox told police that because of that, he had “almost run her over” and that when he tried to speak with her she “stumbled away” and was lying in a yard a few doors down.
When police arrived they discovered Tara Howard, of 213 Arlington Dr. and officers indicated she was “incoherent and couldn’t talk.”
A police report added: “She was highly intoxicated and couldn’t stand.”
Officers then knocked on the door of 218 Arlington Dr., the home outside which Howard had been found.
Linda Russell answered the door and told police she had invited Howard over for dinner when the woman began to drink cherry vodka, and that she had tried to get her to slow down her alcohol consumption.
“Tara then got violent with her and punched her in the face, so (Russell) made her leave and that’s the last time (Russell) saw her,” a police report indicated.
Russell told police she didn’t want charges filed iin the wake of the incident.
Howard was then transported to Canonsburg General Hospital by Fort Cherry Ambulance Service.
Canonsburg police said the woman will be cited for public drunkenness.
