A Message From Sen. Solobay: Senior Expo the Place to Be

The event kicks off Thursday.

More than 100 booths will greet the crowd we expect to see at the 2011 Senior Expo this Thursday at the Washington Crown Center.

There is always a big turnout for this event because there’s a great mix of important information and entertainment.

It gets bigger every year.

The Senior Expo is a lot of fun, but it also has a very important mission. There are so many programs that can help seniors who are struggling financially that we know are not being used by everyone who is eligible.

This event lets folks get answers to questions face to face with experts.

The Senior Expo is co-sponsored by state , D-, and , D-North Strabane, along with SPHS Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging Inc. and the Washington County commissioners.

We have really developed a great partnership over the years. That’s how we can attract so many vendors, entertainers and government agencies.

It has become the place to be.

This year’s expo will feature special guest speaker Dave Crawley, of KDKA-TV, along with entertainers Bobby Shawn and Donnie Cameron.

The festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. with WJPA’s Pete Povich.

State and local agencies will be on hand to offer information on programs for seniors that can help them make ends meet and keep themselves healthy.
