Canonsburg Borough Manager Position Advertised

Canosburg is seeking a new borough manager following the retirement announcement of Terry Hazlett, who currently holds the position, and has posted the following job description for those interested:

Canonsburg Borough, with a population 8,900, 24 miles south of Pittsburgh, seven member council/mayor; $4.3 m budget, 42 full-time and 19 paert-time employees.

Position requires a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree with emphasis in public administration/government or business. Applicants must have three to five years work experience in municipal government and/or transferable experience and skills in progressively responsible positions.

Candidates should possess effective communications skills, be proficient in the use of office computer technology and demonstrate leadership working with council/mayor, employees, residents, civic groups, boards/commissions and other governmental agencies.

The manager is responsible for the supervision and administration of borough operations including but not limited to: general governance; financial and human resource management; public works; waste water treatment plant; code enforcement; planning and zoning; community and economic development; grant writing and administration; parks and recreation; and overall municipal service delivery.

The salary package is negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience.
