Cecil Supervisors Set Public Meeting With DEP About Worstell Impoundment

Cecil Township supervisors on Monday set a date with the state Department of Environmental Protection for a public hearing regarding concerns over a Marcellus Shale waste water impoundment.

The facility, Known as the Worstell Impoundment, is located on Swihart Road and is operated by Southpointe-based Range Resources.

The meeting will be held at 11 a.m. July 29 at Herrs Island in Pittsburgh—the DEP's regional headquarters, Gennuso said.

The request for a meeting came after the township sent a letter to the state Department of Environmental Protection in November regarding concerns over the site—especially in light of information that Range Resources is planning a major modification there.

Residents had also expressed concern over the site last month.
