Despite Outcry, Bove to Propose Greenwood Village Development Again

Bove said he will work with residents to address grievances.

Developer Terry Bove approached the microphone at Monday night’s Canonsburg council  meeting during public comment to address an audience that had gathered to petition against him.

Despite a public outcry at both Canonsburg and North Strabane Township meetings by angry residents, Bove said he will again propose his planned residential development project to North Strabane without modifications.

After a large group of residents spoke out at last week’s council meeting against Bove Development Corp.’s proposed Greenwood Village housing development, Mayor David H. Rhome created a special committee to address their concerns

Bove, who had spent time surveying with the committee, said he was committed to working closely with them and the community in order to finish the project and said, “the more input the better.”

The mayor described Bove as being “nothing but a gentleman” throughout the whole process.

Minutes earlier, Agnes Lesniakowski, one of many residents concerned over Bove’s proposal to make Crawford an access road to Greenwood Village, handed council a petition against his project.

Last week, Rhome’s committee went on a field trip to the community to do a visual inspection of the area and address residents’ grievances. The committee created a list of issues that would need addressed before allowing Bove Development Corp. to move forward.

Issues found brought up by the committee included: lack of parking, storm water drainage, new traffic lights and areas of poor vision for drivers.

“At this time we would like to recommend to borough council that unless all these issues were agreed to by all parties that we don’t believe the project should go any further,” Rhome said.

“These are issues that can be solved. That’s our position,” Bove said.
