Free Tax Preparation Available

See if you qualify for the help!

State Rep. Brandon Neuman will host free tax preparation assistance at his office for residents in the 48th Legislative District—which includes Canonsburg and North Strabane—starting Feb. 6 and continuing every Wednesday through the month.

“This free tax service will be provided by a local tax professional with no cost to the taxpayers,” said Neuman, D-North Strabane. “Many people in the community visited my office last year to get help filing their state taxes and I’m happy to continue providing the service again this year.”

Neuman said appointments are required, and can be made by calling his constituent service office at 724-743-7602.

He said people should bring all tax information with them, including W-2 forms, interest and dividend statements, retirement income statements and property tax bills.

The service is for state tax forms only—it does not include federal taxes. State and federal taxes must be mailed by April 15.

Neuman added that help also will be available to complete forms for the state Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.

The program benefits income-eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities who are 18 or older. The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for senior homeowners with lower incomes can boost the property tax or rent rebate to $975.
