Help Save Town Park Pool: Dinner and Dancing Event Planned

There will be dinner and dancing inside the pool later this month. Read on to see how you can attend.

Organizers are calling this a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity: Dinner and dancing inside Town Park Pool.

Yes, you read that right. Inside the pool.

borough Manager Terry Hazlett said on the community's website that diners on Sept. 29 will enjoy a prime rib dinner provided by Texas Roadhouse in the pool—all to raise money for a new liner for the community swimming venue.

Called “Dine in the Pool,” tickets are $40 each or two for $75, and will include valet parking, hors d’oeuvres, a complete prime dinner and dancing from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. (dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.).

Seating is limited to 300.

In addition to Texas Roadhouse, major sponsors of the event include All Seasons Mat & Linen Service, , Ross Beverages and Bahr Hardware.

The event is the first of several fundraisers the park board plans to help raise $150,000 for the liner.

The borough is attempting to pay for the liner without increasing taxes.

The park board hopes a new liner will be installed this fall, so the pool can be opened on schedule in 2013.

Hazlett said that the pool is the generator for all park activities and income, including pavilion rentals, the concession stand and .

To purchase tickets for the event, checks, made out to Friends of the Park, may be sent to Friends of the Park, P.O. Box 4, Canonsburg, PA 15317.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Sept. 19.
