Legislator to Wear Pink Boa on House Floor

State Reps. Brandon Neuman and Rob Matzie made a bet Friday stipulating that the loser wear a pink feather boa on the House floor.

Bright pink feather boas aren’t usually part of a legislator’s professional wardrobe, but this fall, state is making sure that a fellow lawmaker tries on the look.

Neuman, D-North Strabane won a bet last week against state Rep. Rob Matzie, a Beaver County Democrat, when “Neuman’s Crew” won this year’s

“The deal was that the loser had to wear the pink boa on the House floor and be recognized, and during that recognition, acknowledge the accomplishments of the Breast Cancer Coalition,” Neuman said Monday.

It was the second year in a row that Neuman’s Crew clinched the win.

Reached about the bet, Matzie said that when they were discussing the terms at the ballpark, the folks from the Coalition said the winner should be the one to wear the boa and laud the organization on the House floor.

“I said, ‘I plan on losing just so I get the honor,’” Matzie said, jokingly adding that Neuman was a standout college athlete who had some “ringers” on his team.

“It is what it is,” the lawmaker said with a laugh. “I knew what I was getting into.”

Participating teams donated $500 to participate in the event, which was be held Friday at the Consol Energy Park, which is home to the Washington Wild Things.
