Murphy Honors WWII Hero from Canonsburg

World War II Veteran Private First Class Wayne Alderson, who recently died, was recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives.

U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, on Tuesday gave a statement on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives recognizing Private First Class Wayne Alderson of Canonsburg.

The WWII hero died on Feb. 22.

At 86, he had been awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart for his courageous actions during the Rhineland campaign of 1945.
