Obama Wins the State, But Not the County

Obama again lost Washington County—even while winning the state and ultimately the presidency.

Despite not winning the presidency, or the state of Pennsylvania, Mitt Romney won Washington County.

Unofficial election results show that Romney won 56 percent of the vote in Washington County Tuesday to President Barack Obama’s 42.8 percent.

How does that break down by way of votes? Romney garnered 50,445 votes to Obama’s 38,503.

This is the second presidential election in which the Democrats took the country but not the county.

In the 2008 election, John McCain won over Obama in Washington County—albeit by a slimmer margin.

In that election, McCain received 51.8 percent to Obama’s 47 percent.

By way of votes? McCain received 50,752 votes to Obama’s 46,122.
