PennDOT to Conduct Traffic Study on State Route in Cecil Township

The state Department of Transportation will conduct a traffic study on state Route 980 in Cecil Township to determine if a modification in the speed limit on that throughway is warranted.

The township last month reached out to the department to formally request that the speed limit be reduced in that area.

In his report to the board of supervisors on July 1, Cecil Manager Don Gennuso said the department had been in touch with the township and said the study would be forthcoming.

The study is expected to begin sometime this month, but it was not immediately clear when it would be completed.

Residents and first responders have complained about state Route 980—saying that speeding and other factors have caused crashes in that area.
