This Week: Neuman's STEM Initiative Forum

The event will bring together business leaders and educators to develop strategies to better prepare local students for quality jobs.

State Rep. Brandon Neuman will host his STEM Initiative Forum—an event that will bring together business leaders and educators to develop strategies to better prepare local students for good-paying, high-demand science and technology jobs in the region.

The STEM (also known as science, technology, engineering and mathematics)  forum will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Pony Baseball Headquarters, located at 1951 Pony Place in Washington.

Joining Neuman, D-North Strabane, will be representatives from global businesses Chevron, Shell and Westinghouse, along with education experts from California University of Pennsylvania, the Carnegie Science Center and Junior Achievement to discuss their STEM programs and outreach activities.

"The forum will be an excellent way for leading businesses and educators to discuss how to strengthen local programs that prepare students for careers in science and technology,” Neuman said. “l am looking forward to seeing educators and businesses collaborate to inspire the next generation."

Just another fluff event to set up his run for Lt. Governor in 2014.

as long as he is doing some good I don't care what office he plans to run on. It is better then doing nothing

OK, I read the recap of the meeting. Nothing in the article says anything other than my concern expressed above, "... sitting around the table talking." There is nothing in the article about any "deliverable." From the quotes, nothing new was said that already isn't known. Some of the stats of what has been spent elsewhere is enlightening. But, the real question, "Now what?" Who else knows more what happened, and the outcomes that form something substantive to be done?

It's simple: Brandon "Timmy Solobay Jr." Neuman is trying to make it look like he's working, but he only does the cheap photo-ops. He's planning on running for Lt. Governor in 2014, so he can't be caught doing anything that would actually be important. He's an empty suit, and he's going to have a true fiscal conservative opponent next year- why do you think the County Republicans met to discuss challengers last week?
