Can someone tell me what a therapeutic emotional support teacher does and why the school needs so many?

Mana, I am not sure of the job description, but would be happy to put in a query. Is that fair?

Here's a job description for a another school: http://www.iu1.org/hr/career/job.php?title=Teacher%3A+Therapeutic+Emotional+Support The short version is special education teacher. I think this is the new "politically correct" title. A Therapeutic Emotional Support Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program for students identified with emotional and behavior problems that affect their learning, to enable them to achieve their maximum potential. This professional is responsible for meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in CSPG No. 61, laws, Board Policy, and Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I have two other questions. First how many students does each therapedic teacher have assigned to them and two, how many children qualify for this type of service?
